Buenos Aires – SIA and Argentine Culture Ministry sign agreement

The Vice President of the Italy-Argentina Society (SIA), Giorgio De Lorenzi, and Argentine Minister of Culture, Pablo Avelluto, signed a framework cooperation agreement in the area of culture, in the presence of Italian Ambassador in Buenos Aires, Teresa Castaldo. The agreement aims to maximise the effectiveness and efficiency of initiatives taken separately and jointly by the Ministry and the SIA to promote the greater dissemination of Italian culture in Argentina and that of Argentina in Italy through cultural events aimed at increasing the level of the two countries’ mutual understanding, intended as a founding element of their ever-better relationship.

Framework cultural cooperation agreement

To this end, the agreement envisages ad hoc initiatives in different areas, from music to literature, to theatre and cinema. In recent years cultural cooperation between Italy and Argentina has grown almost exponentially, thanks to a series of initiatives such as the Year of Italy in Latin America, aiming above all to promote the mutual understanding of common values and roots. In this scenario, in addition to the traditional diplomatic network (embassy and consulates) and Italian Institutes of Culture (IIC), a major role is also played by a number of external organisations such as the SIA, which have made major contributions.
