Lisbon – Books, “L’Abbazia dei cento peccati” by Marcello Simoni translated in Portuguese

In a recent interview, Marcello Simoni said he was in debt with Umberto Eco, owing to “the great writer, the master key to an imaginary world, his Middle Ages bestseller”. His books represent global phenomena, like “The Abbey of One Hundred Sins” (“L’Abbazia dei cento peccati”), a historic novel which will presented in the Portuguese translation (published by the Clube do Autor publisher) at 7 p.m. at the Italian Institute of Culture in Lisbon by Portuguese journalist and writer Gonçalo Cadilhe, in the presence of the author. Marcello Simoni, a graduate in classical letters and former archaeologist and librarian, launched his writing career in 2011 with “Il mercante di libri maledetti” (“The Merchant of Damned Books”), a novel set in the Middle Ages which led the bestseller list for more than a year and won the 60th edition of the Premio Bancarella. The book’s translation rights have been purchased in 18 Countries. With Newton Compton he published “La biblioteca perduta dell’alchimista” (“The Alchmist’s Lost Library”), “Il labirinto ai confini del mondo” (“The labyrinth at the Edge of the World”), the second and third chapter of the trilogy on the famous merchant; and “L’isola dei monaci senza nome” (“The Island of the Nameless Monks”), which won him the Premio Lizza d’Oro 2013. In 2014 he published “The Abbey of One Hundred Sins”, the first chapter of a new trilogy, which was followed by “The Abbey of One Hundred Crimes” in 2015, and which will close with the much awaited epilogue:  “The Abbey of One Hundred Deceits” (“L’abbazia dei cento inganni”).
