A musical event will commemorate Italian composer and pianist Ferruccio Busoni at 150 years from his birth. Gianluca Luisi will perform a piano concert on Thursday, 31 March, at the Italian Embassy in Washington, organised in conjunction with the Italian Institute of Culture. International reviews (Potsdamer Nachrichten, Fanfare, the New York Concert reviews at Carnegie Hall) give Luisi as one of the best Italian pianists of our time. His concerts have received broad public acclaim everywhere around the world. The winner of numerous contests, Luisi’s career took a positive turn in 2001 when he won the first prize at the 4th edition of the Internationalen Klavierwettbewerbs “J. S. Bach” Saarbrücken, where he was acclaimed by German critics as a new star performer of J.S.Bach’s music.
