The Italian government, through its honorary consul Ernest Amory, donated 100 football uniforms to St. Kitts and Nevis. The uniforms were supplied by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). The presentation took place at a ceremony that was attended – in addition to the consul – by the Minister of Agriculture and Health, Eugene Hamilton. Over the next few days, Mr Hamilton will distribute the uniforms to three football teams: Conaree FC, Cayon FC and St. Peter’s FC, all of which compete in the Central American Premier League. M Hamilton requested the uniforms soon after he arrived at the ministry in 2015. “When I was appointed I had a talk with the honorary consul and I explained that there are three Premier League teams that are doing well, but need assistance especially on the equipment side,” said the minister during the ceremony. “Amory did not hesitate to forward the request. Also, when I later went to Italy, I met a number of officials, who were already aware of the need”. In this regard, “I would like to thank the members and President of FICG for sending the material, which we requested only a few months ago.” Mr Hamilton added that the Italians have also provided other types of assistance and this will continue in the future, confirming the cordial relations that exist between the two countries.
