The Milan Design Triennale and the genius of the great Milanese designers is the focus on an exhibition held between May 9 and 17, presented by 30 students of the Faculty of Architecture at the Francisco Marroquín University in Guatemala. The Italian Institute of Culture (IIC) in Guatemala City has organised the event to celebrate “La Triennale”, founded in 1923 to promote Italian art and architecture. This year from April 2 to Sept. 12 the Triennale celebrates its 21st edition, entitled “Design after design”. There will be shows located at special landmarks throughout the Milan metropolitan area, official pavilions created by participating countries, and exhibition spaces organised by associations, research centres and businesses. These prominent locations are the Palace of Art, the Polytechnic University of Milan, and the Royal Villa of Monza.
The Triennale will also leverage the strong synergy with the Milan Furniture Fair, with both events opening at the same time, and will be an event catalyzing the interest of companies operating in the sector. The tour presenting the Triennale opened in Brazil last November. Its special guest was Italian Foreign Minister, Paolo Gentiloni, who presented the event together with the architect Arturo Dell’Acqua Bellavitis, President of the Triennale Design Museum. The event, held at the Casa Brasileira Museum, was open to professionals, teachers, students and workers in the sector. It was organized through the partnership between the Italian Embassy in Brasilia and the Consulate General and Italian Institute of Culture in Sao Paulo.
