Twenty-nine companies from Italy and Thailand participated in the second Italy-Thailand Business Forum in Koh Samet, following the meeting held in Milan in October 2015. The forum is the most important bilateral economic tool between the two countries. It sees the now consolidated participation of the top management of large groups from both countries, with a comprehensive annual turnover of more than 315 billion dollars. Its aim is to explore new specific business opportunities and to analyse the key issues to resolve in order to further strengthen trade and investment between the two countries. This new edition of the Forum saw the participation of two new members of the Bangkok Board: Innove Rubber and Merchant Partner Securities. Furthermore, the Italian co-chairmanship confirmed the strong interest of leading companies in the food and banking sectors to join the participants in the near future. Meanwhile, the companies meeting in Koh Samet ranged – among other areas – from cars to concrete, to infrastructure, insurance, oil and gas, steel machinery, renewable energy sources, rubber, petrochemicals and tourism. The next meeting of the Forum will take place in 2017 in Italy. In the meantime joint working groups will be established to review and address the key issues in their respective areas. The Forum was an initiative of Italian Ambassador in Bangkok, Francesco Saverio Nisio, the Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Isara Vongkusolkit, and the country’s Trade Council.
