The World Food Research and Innovation Forum will be one of the initiatives organised for the “Week of Italian Cuisine in the World” which will be held every year starting from November 2016, staging events in the more than 300 offices of the network of Italian diplomatic and consular offices and Institutes of Culture.
The announcement was made by Counsellor Cristiano Musillo on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation at the opening of Parma’s 18th CIBUS International Food Show. The Foreign Ministry’s scientific attachés, who have the task of reinforcing international cooperation in promoting innovation and sustainability in the agro-food sector, participated in the Forum through a live stream from 25 cities in five continents.
The Forum is a continuum with the major themes of Expo Milano 2015, and especially with the objective of giving universal access to high-quality food. Opened by the Minister of Agricultural Policies, Maurizio Martina, the President of the Emilia-Romagna, Stefano Bonaccini, and the Mayor of Parma, Federico Pizzarotti, the two-day Forum established a platform of permanent dialogue among top international experts, including Sanjaya Rajaram, the winner of the 2014 World Food Prize, the “Nobel Prize of food”.
