Mexico – Italy present at packaging fair

Mexico Expo Pack, the country’s major packaging and handling fair, is about to kick off. Italy will participate in the fair with its Punto Italia, organised by the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) with UCIMA (the Italian Manufacturers of Automatic Packing and Packaging Machinery) and with the support of the Italian Embassy in Mexico. Punto Italia, which hosts over 10 companies working in the industry, will cater to Italian firms and visitors attending the event. In 2015, Italian companies exported machinery to Mexico for a total value of 120.5 million euros. Italy ranks second among the major exporters to Mexico of packaging machines, with a share of 18.2 percent of the total market. According to an estimate made in “Il Cubo”, an exclusive study carried out by UCIMA, by 2018 the value of the Italy’s packaging machinery market will grow by 5.3 percent, and cosmetics will be among the client sectors recording the steepest rise, with an increase of 6.2 percent, and with food and chemical products forecast to rise by 6.1 percent. The 2015 Expo Pack Mexico included 100 exhibitors, over a surface area of 19,000 square metres, and received more than 25,000 visitors. The organisers are confident that in 2016 these figures will be considerably higher.
