Yangon – Italy-Myanmar partnership in the culinary sector

The cooperation between Italy and Myanmar expands thanks to a new initiative: Ye Ko Naing, a young Burmese student at the Hospitality and Catering Training Accademy (HCTA) of Yangon, is about to begin his new training activity with ALMA, the international school of Italian cuisine. The HCTA, created by Aung San Suu Kyi in memory of her mother, is one of the projects promoted by the Daw Khin Kyi Foundation: Ye Ko Naing will be hosted at the Royal Palace of Colorno, where he will be able to attend the courses of Italian cuisine of the International Culinary Program, thanks to an effective synergy with ALMA, the Italian Embassy in Yangon and Senator Albertina Soliani of the Giuseppe Malpeli Association for Italy-Burma Friendship. “Ever since my recent visit to HCTA, I immediately thought of a collaboration with a point of excellence of Italian cuisine,” said Ambassador Pier Giorgio Aliberti, in wishing his best to the young amateur chef. He added: “Through the dialogue with Senator Albertina Soliani and the Giuseppe Malpeli Association for Italy-Burma Friendship we succeeded to involve ALMA, thus concretising the project in only a few months. I see it as a very promising start in a sector that holds great interest for us and on which Myanmar focuses great attention.”
