Zhangjiajie – Ferrari 458 out to conquer China with daring speed

Fabio Barone, the Roman-born driver and president of the Ferrari Passione Rossa club, has chosen the Tianmen Mountain Road in China (located in the heart of the National Tianmen Mountain Park in Zhangjiajie, in north-western Hunan province), in order to attempt setting the world speed record. The challenge of the Tianmen Mountain Road, defined as “the most dangerous road in the world”, was presented a few days ago in the pavilions of Fiera Roma during the Supercar Show displaying unconventional cars.

Barone, with his Ferrari 458 Italia prepared by Capristo and by Leone Motors, and his team, will try to win for the first time ever the World Speed Record on the road’s 99 hairpin turns. Barone and his team will officially represent Italy in what is expected to be a full-fledged feat in China. The initiative is sponsored by the Italian Consulate General in Canton.

Already last year Barone etched his name on the Guinness World Record after a run on 13 km on the Transfagarasan (a national Rumanian road) defined by the TV programme “Top Gear” as the most beautiful road in the world, in 9 minutes and 13 seconds. “The drive is to write another page on the World Guinness Record,” said the Roman driver who presides the most important partnership between Ferrari and its customers: the Passione Rossa Club.
