Bratislava – The Flaiano Prize for Italian studies: the Italian Cultural Institute calls for nominations

“For the 43rd edition of the Flaiano International Prize for Italian studies, the Italian Cultural Institute in Bratislava welcomes any suggestions in the form of publications on Italian cultural topics written in Slovakian or Italian between June 2015 and June 2016”. The Italian Embassy in Bratislava advises that the deadline for entries is in August. The Flaiano International Prize for Italian studies is sponsored and organised by the Associazione Culturale Ennio Flaiano (Ennio Flaiano cultural association) and by the Centro Nazionale di Studi Dannunziani (National centre for D’Annunzio studies) in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Cultural Institutes abroad.

The Flaiano Prize – as also introduced on the Embassy website – recognises the work of Italianists worldwide and enjoys considerable prestige among scholars in the field in many countries. Past winners of the Flaiano Prize for Italian studies include scholarly authorities and professors from various nations. This year, the prize jury of experts in international culture, chaired by Dacia Maraini, will announce the three winners who will collect the Prize in Pescara on 21 October. The jury will meet in Rome at the Directorate General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to announce the winners. Ever since its inception, the Flaiano Prize for Italian studies has been supported by MAECI through the Cultural Institutes network, which handles the call for nominations overseas and draws attention to the best publications on Italian cultural matters written in Italian or in the local language in the previous year.
