Massimiliano Finazzer Flory – Friuli-born actor, playwright and director – will once again play the part of Leonardo Da Vinci. The popular play “Essere Leonardo da Vinci. Un’intervista impossibile” (“Being Leonardo da Vinci. An impossible interview”) – a play based on authentic quotations from the words of the Italian genius combining his thought, science and art – is now getting ready to be staged in the Country of the Rising Sun to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Italy. Finazzer Flory’s performance will be held in two of Japan’s major universities: in Tokyo’s Waseda University on 24 June and in Kyoto’s Gaidai University on 30 June.
During its tour of Japan, the performance will explore the details of the Doria Table, which is attributed to Leonardo, by staging some excerpts of the Battle of Anghiari. The tour will also make a stop in Osaka, where the show is scheduled to be held on 28 June at the Knowledge Capital. The play will be in Japanese and in Renaissance Italian and is sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institutes in Osaka and Tokyo.
