Foreign Minister Gentiloni in Ulaanbaatar for 11th Asia-Europe Meeting

Italy’s Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni will attend the eleventh Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) on July 15 and 16 in Mongolia. Discussions at the summit will focus on economic cooperation, connectivity, and global and regional challenges. A total of 31 European and 22 Asian delegations are expected to attend.
Two years after the previous summit in Milan, the partners will discuss the current global economic situation. They are expected to focus on strengthening policies to achieve inclusive economic growth, on inter-regional trade and investment flows, and on digital connectivity and transport. The meeting will provide them with an opportunity to exchange views on ways to address current and future challenges to international stability, sustainable development, terrorism, climate change and migration.
At the 20th anniversary of ASEM, leaders will review the progress made, establish the course for cooperation in the next 10 years and highlight the need for connectivity in all its aspects. The summit will also strengthen the pillars of the partnership: peace and stability, economic prosperity, sustainable development and a better quality of life.
During his stay in Ulaanbaatar, Minister Gentiloni inaugurated the new Italian Embassy in Mongolia, in the presence of the Mongolian Foreign Minister.
