The Basilicata Region is taking part in the fourth Week of Italian cuisine in Buenos Aires. Acclaimed chefs from the region and guests of honors such as Vito Amato and Giovanni Battista Guastamacchia, will prepare, until 2 September, a menu based on typical produce from the region. These are top- quality products which are bound to win the heart of South America. This is what the Union of Basilicata Chefs said in its press release: “People will be won over when tasting exquisite traditional products from our region such as cheese, Ferrandina olives, dried red ‘cruschi’ peppers, beans, typical products preserved in olive oil and Tursi orange-based cakes. It will be a real feast of Italian gastronomy, where typical products will contribute to the preservation of old traditions, have a chance to be appreciated by talented cooks and enjoyed by the many citizens that migrated from our region to this continent, who will be given special prices in more than 25 restaurants. The programme also features many different events, including free tastings of coffee and pasta dishes and also cooking classes, live music and films and docufilms. We wish all chefs and gourmets to enjoy the ‘Semana de la cocina italiana’ promoting high-quality cuisine and gastronomy throughout the world.”
