“A prática da Arte. O futuro possível” is an exhibition by Italian artist Giorgio Galli hosted by the Italian Cultural Institute (IIC) in Sao Paulo. It opened a few days ago and will run until Saturday, October 8. Galli is a versatile artist who started out in Rome’s artistic circles at a young age. He applies ancient fresco and encaustic techniques in contemporary art, reinterpreting them with a unique style. His paintings are a synthesis of artistic trends ranging from Informalism to Neo-Dada. Ash, mixed with colours and newspaper, is the key element in his art. In 1997, Galli founded Rome’s Neo-abstract group alongside other artists, exhibiting his works both in Italy and abroad. Galli’s pieces have been acquired by public and private collections. He currently lives and works in Rome and Genzano.
