Canada – Montreal hosts retrospective on Michelangelo Antonioni

A little over nine years since the death of Michelangelo Antonioni, one of the greatest directors of contemporary cinema, the Italian Cultural Institute in Montreal and the Cinémathèque québécoise have organised a retrospective of the Italian master to show his take on the human soul and on the contradictions of modern society. It is a journey through Antonioni’s career, from his early short film “N.U. (Nettezza Urbana)” and his feature films “Story of a Love Affair”, “Identification of a Woman”, and “Beyond the Clouds”, co-directed with Wim Wenders, to his three American productions “The Passenger”, “Blowup”, and “Zabriskie Point”. “I Vinti” will open the retrospective on September 16 while the screening of “N.U.” on October 5 will mark the end of the event.
