La Scala’s second Seoul concert features exceptional cast of singers

Milan’s Teatro alla Scala performed its second concert at Seoul’s Lotte World Theater with a cast of exceptional singers. The La Scala orchestra, again conducted by Maestro Chung, performed Giuseppe Verdi’s ‘Simon Boccanegra’ in concert form. The cast included Simone Piazzolla (as Boccanegra), Carmen Giannattasio (as Amelia), Fabio Sartori (as Gabriele Adorno), in the leading roles and Dmitry Belosselskiy, Ernesto Panariello, Julian Kim and Luigi Albani in the supporting roles.
The audience of approximately 1,700 spectators showed their appreciation for the top-quality performance, enhanced by the hall’s perfect acoustics, with a prolonged standing ovation. The newly inaugurated hall, which is built according to the Chinese Boxes technique to perfectly sound-proof it from all external noise, hits a perfect balance between reverberation time, clarity and intensity of sound and the early lateral energy fraction. This balance enables the audience to hear the sounds clear and loud from anywhere they may be sitting. The structure makes the hall the world’s most technologically advanced facility for the performance of music.
Maestro Chung who, during the preceding concert had commemorated the victims of the earthquake that struck Central Italy by dedicating to them Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus, donated his earnings to help the earthquake victims.
