The 2017 Budget presented by Jeroen Dijsselbloem, the Finance Minister of The Netherlands, focuses on promoting private and public investments to bolster economic growth and security. More specifically, the Government announced structural increases of 450 million euros for security, of 300 million euros for investments and of 1.5 million euros for security. On the front of foreign trade and development cooperation, an additional 417 million euros will be dedicated to fighting HIV/AIDS and to support the rights of women, 348 million euros to food security and 195 million to water control. Lastly, 5.9 billion euros will be allocated to infrastructure projects and the maintenance of motorways, railways and navigable waterways.
