Berlin – Meeting with Italian musicians emigrated to Germany

The Italian Embassy in Berlin has organised a series of events to present the success stories of Italian musicians in Germany. The series is scheduled to start on Dec. 14 with three brilliant musicians living in Berlin: Claudio Donzelli, Federico Albanese and Andrea Belfi. They will participate in an open Q & A session chaired by Andrea D’Addio, editor-in-chief of the Berlino Magazine and co-organiser of this initiative, together with the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Berlin.

Mr Donzelli, originally from Pesaro, arrived in Berlin in 2008 to attend a PhD course in engineering. He is now one of the three members of the Mighty Oaks Band, which plays alternative folk/rock music. The band’s first album, Howl, got up to number 10 on Germany’s Billboard Chart. In 2014, they were candidates for the best band of 2014 at the European Festival Awards.

Milan-born Federico Albanese is a pianist and a contemporary classical music composer. He released his second album, The Blue Hour, in January. Following the album’s release, he went on an international tour, selling out many dates and reaping enthusiastic reviews in several national and international newspapers. Finally, Mr Belfi, a composer and percussionist born in Verona, arrived in Berlin in 2011. Since then, he has collaborated with legends of contemporary music such as Nils Frahm, Mike Watt, Carla Bozulich and David Grubbs. He has released six solo albums and performed at many locations, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Krakow Unsound Festival.
