Bucharest – Dinner with Michelin star-winning chefs and President Iohannis

The Italian Embassy in Bucharest hosted a very high-level official gala dinner on 30 November. The guest of honour at the dinner was the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis. The dinner was prepared by Italian chefs Maurizio and Sandro Serva of the restaurant “La Trota” in Rieti (winner of two Michelin stars) with ingredients from the Province of Rieti and especially from the city of Amatrice. The two Michelin star-winning chefs used their creative talent to revisit traditional dishes made with Italian local products by focusing on three main aspects: quality, identity and excellence.

The exclusive event wound up the “First Week of Italian Cuisine” in Romania as part of the dense programme of events organised by the Italian Embassy in partnership with the many players promoting Brand Italy abroad (the Italian Cultural Institute and the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Romania). Among the activities organised, special mention goes to: the screening of Pupo Avati’s film “La Cena per farli conoscere” (“A Dinner for Them to Meet”), an event dedicated to Italy’s regional gastronomy with a cooking show and the tasting of traditional wine and food prepared by restaurants certified by the Accademia della Cucina Italiana in Bucharest, a networking event and a literary dinner entitled “A Cena con Giulietta e Romeo”, (“Dining with Juliette and Romeo”), dedicated to the culinary and literary traditions of Verona.

The “First Week of Italian Cuisine” in Romania was a great success and attracted a multifarious public comprising culinary experts, members of the diplomatic corps, numerous Romanians who love Italian food and a large part of the Italian community residing in Romania.
