“Burri Prometheia” is the title of a symposium organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), to discuss the legacy of Italian artist Alberto Burri through the largest of his work created outside of Italy: the ‘Grande Cretto Nero’ [the Large Black Crack] on show in Franklin D. Murphy Museum’s sculpture garden. The Italian Cultural Institute will host a screening, a reading and a debate with film directors, artists, and historians to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the donation of the artist’s work to UCLA. The event is scheduled to begin on January 9, 2017 at the UCLA Department of Italian, UCLA College of Letters and Science, Division of Humanities, UCLA Department of Art History, Burri Foundation, and at the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles.
