Belarus – The Year of Italian Culture kicks off in Belarus

An exhibition combining the masterpieces of Futurism and Suprematism, a Forum on Green Economy, a photo-documentary exhibition on Italo-Belarusian relations, a commemorative concert, theatrical performances, film showings, fashion shows, academic and artistic exchanges are only a few of the initiatives programmed for the Year of Italian Culture in Belarus celebrating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations between the two Countries. The event was presented by Italian Ambassador in Minsk, Stefano Bianchi, and the Belarusian Minister of Culture, Boris Svetlov. “The constantly growing promotion of Italian culture in Belarus supplements the economic and business integration and tangibly contributes to strengthening political relations,” explained Ambassador Bianchi. He continued: “The Year of Italian Culture touches sectors unexplored up to now like jazz music, theatre, contemporary art (the combined exhibition of Futurist Gerardo Dottori and Belarusian Suprematist artist Nadia Khodossievich Léger), but also includes equally important anniversaries like the 150th anniversary of the birth of Luigi Pirandello and the traditional celebrations of the Day of Design and the Week of Italian Language and the Week of Italian Cuisine”. Minister Svetlov confirmed the full collaboration of Belarus’s cultural institutions in the cycle of events promoted by Italy, as “the ideal follow up to the Year of Culture in Belarus 2016”.  The Year of Italian Culture is one of the most outstanding events promoted to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of relations between Belarus and numerous more Countries.

The logo is based on Belarus’s historic 8-pointed star, a patriotic symbol, and a reference to the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations, thus combining tradition and technology to bridge the past with the future.
