Alfano signs a joint Italian-Tunisian declaration

Today at the Hotel Boscolo Exedra of Rome, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, signed a joint declaration with his Tunisian counterpart, Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui.

The text illustrates the priorities of bilateral cooperation in different sectors, including the partnership for development, the electrical interconnection project, the youth exchange programmes, and reinforcing cooperation in the field of security. The two ministers will also sign the framework agreement for the concerted management of the migration phenomenon, which aims to effectively combat illegal immigration, human trafficking and to strengthen borders. Minister Alfano will also sign a number of agreements on cultural cooperation, development cooperation, health care, and transport. The agreements are signed within the framework of the State Visit to Italy by the Tunisian President of the Republic, Beji Caid Essebsi.
