Turkey – Italy’s contribution to archaeological missions

The conference titled “Contributo italiano a scavi, ricerche e studi nelle missioni archeologiche in Turchia; Economia, produzione e società” (“Italian contribution in carrying out excavations, research and studies in archeaological missions in Turkey – Economy, Production and Society”) will celebrate its eighth edition at the Teatro della Casa Italiana in Istanbul on Friday March 24 and Saturday March 25.

Twelve speakers representing prestigious Italian universities will gather to illustrate the activities that have been carried out in archaeological missions in Turkey. It will focus on their state-of-the-art advancements and prospects in terms of research and excavations. Marcella Frangipane, Isabella Caneva, Stefania Mazzoni, Nicolo’ Marchetti, Lorenzo d’Alfonso, Anna Lucia D’Agata, Grazia Semeraro, Annalisa Polosa, Maria Andaloro, Eugenio Russo, Alessandra Ricci and Cristina Tonghini will be on stage to present their papers.

Alessandra Ricci, the director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Istanbul, will open the works of the conference, followed by Italian Ambassador, Luigi Mattiolo, and the Deputy Director General of Cultural Heritage and Museums, Melik Ayaz. Francesco D’Andria of the University of Salento will make a few introductory remarks to the scheduled presentations. The event has been organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in conjunction with the Italian Embassy in Ankara and the Italian Consulate General.
