Minister Alfano in Brussels for the Conference on Syria

 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, is on mission to Brussels today to attend the Conference on Syria. The Conference opening session will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Europa Building with opening remarks by the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres and by the High Representative of the European Union, Federica Mogherini.

A family photo is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. and at 10:45 a.m. will begin the plenary session of the Conference, dedicated to supporting the UN-led political negotiation process and the future of Syria, at the presence of the UN Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan De Mistura. Minister Alfano is scheduled to speak at 11 a.m.

At the end of the Plenary session scheduled at 1:30 p.m., Minister Alfano and the EU High Representative Mogherini will visit the exhibition “Rising from destruction: Ebla, Nimrud, Palmyra”, hosted at the Justus Lipsius Building.  

In the afternoon, Minister Alfano will attend the Ministerial Meeting “Humanitarian crises in the Horn of Africa”.
