Spain – “Time and the Voice”: songs from Sicilian School of Poetics

“Il Tempo e la Voce” (“Time and the Voice”) is a project aimed at translating some texts from the Sicilian School of Poetics and transposing them into music. The project was launched by Enrico Coppola, a musician and art historian, and by Giuseppe Di Bella, singer and songwriter and Chief Editor of the poetry collection “Sete”. The presentation will be held at 7 p.m. next 24 April at the Italian Cultural Institute in Barcelona, which wrote the following notice: “The idea of this project is essentially that of interconnecting different cultural moments and different disciplines, starting from our common heritage. Everything started from the desire to revive the texts of the Sicilian School of Poetics, which gave birth to the Italian language and literature. The prime reason for this decision is to be sought in the interest for the cultural fact that at the root of this literary production was Sicilian, a cultured Medieval Sicilian, which has been lost over time. Everything arises from the will to reconquer today the awareness of linguistic, musical and cultural values in an imminent context in which to reaffirm the centrality of the Mediterranean and its flows, something which is far from being self-evident.”
