Italy will be the guest of honour at the 29th edition of the International Festival of University Theatre of Casablanca (Fituc) to take place on 4-9 July. The event, organised by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities Ben M’Sik at the University Hassan II Mohammedia-Casablanca, will focus on the theme of “Action: aspects of the new theatre”. Along with the Italian theatre companies invited by the Faculty, the Italian Cultural Institute will promote the inauguration of the Festival with a ballet performance entitled “Sheherazade” by the Balletto di Milano, to take place at the Complexe Culturel Moulay Rachid. Maestro Carlo Presta has confirmed his participation as a member of the international jury. Mr Presta will also organise the theatre workshop and Andrea Benaglio’s master class. Created in 1988, the Festival is an occasion to carry out research and experimentation, and represents a meeting place and a networking opportunity for many Moroccan and international young artists and professionals. This initiative has fostered cultural and artistic exchanges between many countries in the world. International artists have been invited to participate in the event, alongside with script writers and amateur and professional comedians, as well as university students from Morocco and the four corners of the world. Fituc offers a broad range of artistic, scientific and educational activities organised in different settings in the city of Casablanca and other Moroccan cities.
