Italy is bolstering its cooperation with Mexico in the field of culture. Italian Ambassador to Mexico, Luigi Maccotta, recently had a long and cordial meeting with the Secretary of Culture, Maria Cristina García Cepeda. The Ambassador was accompanied by the director of the Italian Cultural Institute (IIC) in Mexico City, Marco Marica, and by the expert in cultural matters, Riccardo Cannelli. The meeting, which highlighted the importance of the cultural sector in general bilateral relations, focused on the exchange of large exhibitions, cooperating in the area of the restoration of archaeological objects and the protection of cultural heritage. The meeting also discussed the possibility of promoting cinema and television co-productions. In this perspective, mention was made of the upcoming Bi-National Commission meeting which is scheduled to be held next October in Rome, as the forum in which to bring forward the issues discussed.
