Chile – The 2018 NEKo Tour Italia kicks off in Santiago

The event is an itinerant project by an artistic collective that will run until 26 September. It is hosted and supported by the Italian Cultural Institute in Santiago, Chile. It involves a series of performances, culinary shows and  photography, art and design exhibitions that explore the best strategies for managing “migrant work”.  The artists include Christian Castro, a chef and the cultural director of Estudio M5, visual artists Marisol Frugone and Alfredo Da Venezia, and designer Sandra Hayvel.

The first edition of the tour was held last year and involved four artists who exhibited their work at the Museo Antropológico de Arte Contemporáneo di Guayaquil and the Museo Municipal de Arte Moderno di Cuenca in Ecuador, and also at the Residencia Materia Gris a Casa Matony in La Paz, Bolivia. They rose to the challenge of implementing an art tour strategy, with touring artists and works, just like a rock band, in order to link up with South American art circuits. The tour involved visiting three cities in two countries in only nine days.
