USA – IEEFA study recognises ENEL as world leader in renewable energy
ENEL is carving out an increasingly important position for itself as a global contender in the highly strategic renewable energy sector. Some of the most important global challenges revolve around this area, from energy access to digitalising transmission infrastructures, from the fight against climate change to the definition of new models of sustainable development.
Confirmation of its status was provided by an in-depth report on developments in energy generation from renewable sources, published by the prestigious U.S. Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA). The report analysed the economic and financial performance of 11 of the biggest utility companies in the world. It found that in all areas of comparison in the study, ENEL has been one of the most successful companies in navigating the energy transition, establishing itself as a global leader with competitive advantages over other utility companies.
Special appreciation was given to the consolidated leadership of ENEL, resulting from its early acceptance of the need for a transition from fossil fuels. Its fast-tracking of the development of grid digitalisation and adoption of smart metres gave it an edge over more sluggish competitors.
Gaining such recognition from a prestigious American institute is significant, and should help boost the Group’s standing in the U.S.A due to recent acquisitions made there.
