EMA – EU Commission assessmentson Milan bid

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) on Monday morning welcomed the publication of the European Commission’s “assessment” of Milan’s fulfilment of the objective criteria set last June to host the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
“The document published today in Brussels confirms the strength of our bid and Milan’s high quality offer,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano.
“Milan, the economic capital of the country, but also a city capable of delivering top-level public services, is one of the most developed and dynamic European cities, perfectly able, thanks also to the leadership role it plays in medical and pharmacological research, to ensure the continuity of EMA’s activities once it leaves London. The European institutions are now called upon to make a choice that puts the operational continuity of the Agency first and, consequently, the protection of the health of European citizens. Italy can certainly boast, as also confirmed by the documents published today, strong and competitive credentials to host the Agency, and it will continue to support Milan’s candidacy with the utmost determination, also considering the particularly complex competitive environment,” the Minister concluded.
