SAUDI ARABIA: FS ITALIANE WINS OPERATION & MAINTENANCE (O&M) SERVICES CONTRACT FOR RIYADH METRO
Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, a member of the FLOW Consortium along with Ansaldo STS and Alstom, won a contract to manage operation and maintenance (O&M) services for lines 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the Riyadh Metro. The FLOW Consortium was awarded a 12-year contract to manage the O&M services for the metro, with the contract worth a maximum amount of about 2.9 billion dollars (10.9 billion riyals). FS Italiane’s share amounts to one billion dollars. The FLOW Consortium will guarantee all the operation & maintenance services for lines 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the Riyadh metro. The metro totals 113 km in length and has 50 stations, including two main stations and five interchange stations, three depots and three operation control centres. The services provided under the contract include the management of rail traffic, safety, passenger assistance and information, facility management (providing services to support operating activities), maintenance of civil works (stations, parking lots, depots) and the whole transport system (trains, signalling, communication systems and electric traction).
