OICE – Training Workshop on the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank with a focus on service procurement
The OICE, in partnership with the ICE Agency, organises in the Rome premises of the Agency, a technical and operational training workshop on the activities of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), on 17 June, 2019.
The workshop will focus on participating in procurement tenders for the provision of engineering, architecture, technical and economic consulting services relative to the Bank’s financing to the public and private sector.
The workshop aims to facilitate the participation of Italian companies in the procurement of AIIB services in the consulting and infrastructure sector and thus enable participants to receive a comprehensive picture of the activities conducted by the AIIB and its peculiarities compared to other Multilateral Development Banks.
The AIIB is based in Beijing, has a capital of $100 billion and its objective is to finance infrastructure in Asia, especially in Central Southeast Asia (with a special focus on connectivity, energy and water). Italy, along with a consistent group of European countries, is among the Bank’s founding members and is its 10th largest shareholder with 2.66% of the equity. The Asia Pacific area is estimated to have a need of infrastructure amounting to $1.7 trillion up to 2030, as it is now the world’s fastest growing area. The investment portfolio is on constant uptrend. At the end of 2018, it had approved 35 infrastructure projects worth more than 7.5 billion dollars in 13 member Countries. The projects ranged from infrastructure in transport, energy, telecommunications and urban development.
