Rome, 7 August 2019 – The information campaign entitled “Travel Safely Abroad” is co-promoted by the Foreign Ministry’s Crisis Unit, the National Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) and the association of Italian airport operators, Assaeroporti, to remind Italians planning to spend their holidays abroad of the importance of consulting “Viaggiaresicuri.it” and of registering on “Dovesiamonelmondo.it” website: two important tools, free of charge, accessible to travellers in order to keep updated on the security conditions of the Countries of destination and to expedite the provision of assistance by the Crisis Unit in case of the occurrence of an emergency. In particular, the information campaign will particularly be promoted in the airports of Alghero, Bari, Bergamo, Bologna, Cagliari, Florence, Genoa, Milano Malpensa, Naples, Pisa, Reggio Calabria, Rimini, Roma Ciampino, Roma Fiumicino, Roma Urbe, Turin, Venice and Verona.
“This summer, Italians travelling abroad will have access to two completely renovated portals and a new App for mobile devices that, on the basis of an advanced system of interactive maps that highlight the areas in which to use particular precaution in every Country in the world, offers the possibility to geolocate one’s position while travelling and to receive security alerts directly on one’s smartphone in case of necessity,” said Stefano Verrecchia, Head of the Foreign Ministry’s Crisis Unit. He went on: “We have concentrated in these instruments all our experience and an in-depth analysis performed in coordination with the Italian diplomatic network in the world, to make independent and reliable information available to travellers in order to enable them to make informed and responsible travel plans. Downloading the new App from the Crisis Unit website before departing, consulting the security notices relative to one’s Country of destination and registering on our online portal: three easy steps now truly “at hand” in order to travel abroad feeling completely safe.”
The Director General of ENAC, Alessio Quaranta added: “This year too, ENAC renews its support for the information campaign promoted by the Foreign Ministry’s Crisis Unit which offers dedicated security services to all the citizens choosing to spend their vacations abroad. For ENAC, it is essential to contribute to raising the awareness among the users of air transport of the importance of keeping well informed on the travel destinations chosen and to report their presence abroad through tools like “Viaggiaresicuri.it” and “Dovesiamonelmondo.it”, in order to travel safely around the world all year around and especially during the summer, when peak air traffic is recorded. The Authority will promote the campaign through its own communication channels, including through totems in airports, with the aim of contributing to making the experience of travelling safer and more informed.”
The Director General of Assaeroporti, Valentina Lener concluded: “The centrality of passengers and the quality of the service provided represent a key element in our sector and cooperating with airports and Institutions in order to, among other things, give visibility to this type of initiatives, makes it possible to increasingly give immediate access to a flow of updated and qualified information, made available to fellow Italians travelling abroad. Thanks also to the commitment of Italian airports that, together with ENAC and Assaeroporti, have been collaborating for many years with the Foreign Ministry’s Crisis Unit to disseminate the “Travel Safely Abroad” campaign nationwide, passengers will be able to receive information that will make their travel experience safer.”
