Italian Language Week: a 2-week scholarship to the Amalfi Coast allotted in Santiago

The Italian Cultural Institute in Santiago, in association with the Italian Embassy and with local institutions and Italian partners, organises a series of conferences, refresher workshops and meetings with writers and personalities to celebrate the 19th Edition of the Italian Language Week in the World. In particular, in partnership with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Chile and the “Accademia Italiana” school of Italian in Salerno, the Italian Cultural Institute organises a workshop in which the presentation by Francesca Romana Memoli, the Director of the “Accademia Italiana” school of Italian in Salerno, will intertwine the promotion of the region with the promotion of the Italian language by telling the audience about the treasures of the Amalfi Coast, the Campania region and the Italian language.

The event will close with a drawing of the winner among the participants of a scholarship to study Italian in Salerno and have an authentic two-week Italian experience. ‘Accidental Death of an Anarchist’ (‘Morte accidentale di un anarchico’) by Dario Fo is one of the performances on programme for the Italian Language Week in Santiago. The Italian Nobel Prize Laureate, Dario Fo, will be the subject of a lecture by anthropologist Giuliana Barbaro, who will explain plurilingualism in theatrical language and the use of the theatre in teaching a foreign language. The grand-daughter of the Nobel Prize Winner, Jaele Fo, will sit on the debate panel and will express her most intimate memories of her grandfather.

The celebrations of the 19th Edition of the Italian Language Week in the World will close with the Fiesta de los idiomas, at which Italian teachers will give a taste of the Italian culture and language in one-hour express lessons, which will also include games and live Italian music.
