Minister Luigi Di Maio’s mission to Jordan and Saudi Arabia

Minister Luigi Di Maio has just concluded a two-day mission to Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

In Jordan, the Minister had meetings with Prime Minister Al Khasawneh, his counterpart Ayman Safadi, the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply. The visit has proved an opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation with a strategic player for the stabilisation of the region and to promote economic and trade relations between Italy and Jordan, which have a strong yet still unexpressed potential.

In Saudi Arabia, the Minister met the Crown Prince H.R.H. Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.R.H. Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud. The talks focused on the Italian Presidency of the G20 and the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the strengthening of economic and trade relations between Italy and Saudi Arabia. At the end of the meeting with his Saudi counterpart, the two Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding for launching the Italy-Saudi Arabia bilateral strategic dialogue.
