On 9 June a Memorandum of Understanding on “Smart, Intelligent, Safe and Resilient Cities” was signed by Enel X Brazil, Leonardo Brazil, and TIM Brazil. Organised and promoted by the Embassy of Italy in Brasilia, the event saw the presence of high-ranking Brazilian government officials, (at federal, state and municipal levels), parliamentarians, and administrators.
The supporting pillars of the MoU are connectivity, cyber security, and “smart” energy networks. A first test by an Italian-Brazilian consortium is already under way in the Municipality of Maricà, and aims to transform the city into a “living laboratory” using advanced technologies that can contribute to the sustainable development of the region. The MoU will make it possible to replicate the test in other areas and facilitate the joint development of opportunities in a technologically advanced sector.
