Sparkle is launching Panama Digital Gateway (PDG), a “green” neutral connectivity and docking station with aspirations to become the digital hub for all of Central America, the Andean region and the Caribbean.
Panama Digital Gateway is a next-generation open hub, the country’s first green data centre, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and infrastructure to meet all customer needs. Located in Corozal (Panama City), the new building provides 5,500 square metres of space to accommodate up to 650 rack equivalents and 3.5 MW of scalable power.
Integrated with Sparkle’s global backbone – a fibre network spanning more than 600,000 km across Europe, Africa, the Americas and Asia – Panama Digital Gateway is the landing point for Curie, the cable system linking California to Chile with a branch to Panama developed by Google and Sparkle, and is proposed as a landing point for upcoming submarine cables seeking a diversified landfall in Central America, thus strengthening Panama’s role as a strategic digital hub between North and South America.
