The meetings to be held in Verona on 11 and 12 April on the occasion of the visit to Italy of Wang Wentao, Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, will focus on strengthening economic and trade relations between Italy and China.

On the first day of the meetings, the Joint Economic Committee, the main instrument of economic and trade cooperation with China, will be held. The Committee will be co-chaired by the Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, and Minister Wentao.

On 12 April, the Italy-China Business and Dialogue Forum, organised by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in cooperation with the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) and Confindustria will open the day’s events. It will be held at the Palaexpo Congress Centre in Veronafiere and will be open to companies and organisations interested in pursuing opportunities for economic cooperation in key sectors for the economic growth and development of both Italy and China.

Speeches by Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, and by the Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Wentao, will open the event. These will be followed by speeches by the CEO of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Dario Scannapieco, in his capacity as co-chairman of the Italy-China Business Forum (the business and dialogue forum whose framework includes the organisation of the Verona Business and Dialogue Forum), the President of the ICE agency, Matteo Zoppas, the Vice President of Confindustria, Barbara Beltrame, and the Chinese counterparts, in their capacity as members of the Technical Secretariat.

This will be followed, in plenary session, by two sessions devoted respectively to public support tools for internationalisation and mutual investments and to the theme of innovation as a driver of growth.

At the end of the plenary session, four thematic round tables on key sectors such as agritech, e-commercepharmaceutical and biomedical investments will be held; all interested companies and organisations will be allowed to participate.
