Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi received the Hon. Matteo Mecacci, Chairman of the Committee for Human Rights of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Parliamentary Assembly, today 5 April 2012.
During their meeting at the Foreign Ministry in Rome, Minister Terzi confirmed the Italian Government’s strong support for the work of the OSCE and its Parliamentary Assembly in promoting human rights. He mentioned in particular its work on democratic processes and the protection of minorities.
Minister Terzi and the Hon. Mecacci also discussed the elections in Serbia in early May. The Hon. Mecacci, who was recently appointed head of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s mission of electoral observers, will be visiting Serbia next week for an initial round of consultations.
