The Foreign Ministry firmly condemns the attack on the UN Observers’ convoy in Daara, in southern Syria
The United Nations mission, underscores Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi, is an essential element of the international community’s effort to foster a political solution in Syria. The mission must be able to operate in conditions of complete security and safety for its members. This is the responsibility of the Syrian government, a responsibility which the authorities in Damascus must not shirk in any way. We expect to see no further repetition of episodes such as today’s attack on UN observers and the journalists who were following them and in so doing exercising their legitimate right to report events.
