Terzi hails Serbia’s ratification of bilateral energy accord concluded with Italy on 25 October 2011

Minister Giulio Terzi expressed his satisfaction with Serbia’s completion of ratification procedures concerning the bilateral energy accord stipulated with Italy on 25 October 2011.

The accord makes it possible for clean energy produced in Serbia to be used in Italy, and will allow our country to fully align with European Union regulations on the use of renewable energy.

The intergovernmental agreement soon to be implemented falls within a larger framework of close bilateral cooperation between Italy and Serbia, which constitutes a strategic instrument in the consolidation of Italy’s presence in the Baltic region and in advancing the economic growth and industrial progress of all the nations of the Adriatic-Ionian basin.

“Energy is a priority for diplomatic efforts aimed at the protection and promotion of national interests, and today’s decision confirms the determination with which Italy and Serbia intend to pursue and further strengthen collaboration in this strategic sector”, said Terzi who, in encounters with Serbian leaders in both Belgrade and Rome, had discussed the importance and advantages associated with the completion of this ratification process.
