With regard to several interpretations that appeared in today’s press on the expulsion of Alma Shalabayeva and her daughter Alua:
a) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has no authority in matters concerning the expulsion of foreigners from Italy, nor does it have legal access to data regarding foreign citizens who have been granted political refugee status by third countries;
b) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ sole prerogative is to verify the eventual presence on the list of diplomatic agents accredited in Italy of names that could potentially be reported to the Italian security authorities;
c) In the case in question, in compliance with the legislation in force, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was not informed as to the reasons for the request for information on the eventual diplomatic status of Mrs. Shalabayeva
