Minister Bonino met the Israeli Minister for Regional Development, Energy and Water, Silvan Shalom, at the Farnesina today, 10 September 2013. The meeting provided an opportunity for a fruitful exchange of ideas on the initiatives to be undertaken by strengthen the already excellent bilateral relations. The Italian-Israeli relationship is characterised not just by constant political dialogue but also by a sound partnership in the scientific-technological field.
The issues on the table include the organisation and content of the 4th bilateral summit being held in Turin on 2 December 2013. The summit will focus on consolidating economic-industrial collaboration in high-technology sectors, most notably in the start-up and cyber security sectors.
The two ministers examined the latest developments in the Syrian crisis and discussed possible options for the international community regarding the use of chemical weapons, which caused hundreds of victims among Syria’s civilian population.
