“We continue to monitor the D’Alessandro case closely. After the rejection of a motion for his release on 15 October, on the same day an official request was made, by the group of all the countries of the persons arrested, for a meeting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to have an updated picture of the situation. A meeting with the deputy mission heads of the EU group for consular protection was obtained today, enlarged to the embassies of the other countries whose citizens are being detained in Murmansk. Discussion during the meeting concerned the joint steps to be taken in the coming days”, reported Minister Bonino in the margins of the Senate parliamentary briefing.
The foreign ministry also saw to informing the Russian authorities in Italy within the context of bilateral consultations dedicated to “global challenges and threats”. The family of D’Alessandro are being kept continually updated on developments.
