“About 60 Lazio fans are still under arrest and are being held for summary trial by the Polish judicial authorities. We cannot rule out the possibility that some of them have been deprived of their personal freedom for committing offences of varying degrees of gravity. I have instructed our Ambassador in Poland to speak to the Polish authorities to ensure that anyone who did not engage in criminal activity is released immediately. The Ambassador and other officials are visiting the various police stations to follow the legal proceedings closely”.
This was the comment by Foreign Minister Emma Bonino on the arrests following incidents that occurred in the run-up to the Lazio Legia Warsaw match. The foreign minister added that all of the other Italian nationals have already been released and are now on their way back to Italy.
