Foreign Minister Emma Bonino has met the Polish Deputy Foreign Minister, Henryka Mościcka-Dendys, for an exchange of views on the recent arrest of fans of the Lazio football team. Minister Bonino also reiterated the Italian government’s concern over the case. The meeting took place in the margins of today’s NATO ministerial in Brussels.
At Minister Bonino’s request, and in line with today’s note from the Polish Foreign Ministry, Deputy Minister Mościcka-Dendys confirmed the Polish government’s commitment to clarifying the case. They will seek to clarify the circumstances surrounding the clashes, which led to a high number of arrests, with several fans being sentenced in the courts.
The Polish deputy minister also assured Minister Bonino that she will, as a matter of urgency, report Italy’s concerns to the Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Ministries in Warsaw.
