Ambassadors’ Conference: meeting with Special Envoy for the Marines case, De Mistura

The Ambassadors’ Conference at the Farnesina included the planned meeting with Staffan De Mistura, the Government’s Special Envoy for the question of the navy riflemen held in India. The Envoy provided the ambassadors with an up-date on the situation.

De Mistura also asked the ambassadors to build on the efforts of the diplomatic-consular network both in their countries of accreditation and in multilateral fora to help bring about a positive and rapid solution to the problem. The issue is, indeed, a government priority.

The Special Envoy and the Secretary General at the Farnesina, Michele Valensise, who chaired the meeting, also sent out a warm message of strong solidarity to the two Marines. A message in the name, too, of all those in Italy and abroad who are working to resolve the case.
