Minister for Foreign Affairs Mogherini had a series of telephone conversations in recent hours with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov, French Foreign Minister Fabius and, finally, with Greek Foreign Minister Venizelos, whose country currently holds the Presidency of the European Union. Speaking with her colleagues, who took the opportunity to wish her well in her new position, Mogherini touched on the main items on the international agenda, with particular regard to the latest developments in Ukraine, the post-2014 scenario in Afghanistan and the situations in Syria and Libya. The minister’s colleagues confirmed their participation in the Conference on Libya to be held in Rome on 6 March.
