Minister for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini announced the end to an impasse on adoptions from Belarus, which had been frozen for many years now.
This result, communicated today to the foreign ministry by the Ambassador of Belarus in Italy, is the fruit of confidential negotiations conducted over recent months by Deputy Minister Marta Dassù and her counterpart in Belarus Alena Kupchnya.
The question had been brought to the attention of President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano at the request of the families concerned, with whom the foreign ministry has maintained constant contact.
